Of Shopping, Birthdays, Water, and More Shopping!

Yesterday morning dawned early for Mrs. Oz (O'dark thirty..or 3:45 for those of you who aren't in the "shopping know"), as I decided to get up and head on over to Meijers for one of their specials. Note that what I was looking for was part of their "two day" specials, and not the "doorbuster" variety. After being 6th in line in electronics, I was turned away as they only had...get this...three of this two day special item. Interesting. You would think that they would seriously limit quantities of their $9.97 DVD player...not the item I was looking for which broke the $200 barrier. The funny thing was...the DVD player said "4,000 chain wide" and they had about 200..and the item I wanted said "3,000 chainwide" and they had 3. How the heck does that work? Ah well....whatever. Then it was off to HH Gregg where they had a great light vacuum for the King to give his Mommy for Xmas (note...UL Label rule does NOT apply when you are 18 months old...or when the woman actually picks it out and purchases it herself...for herself!). Was easily able to get that (after waiting for about 45 minutes outside in the dark dark cold) as well as another Birthday present for Mr. Oz (cordless phones..as our batteries kept dying in the ones we had). Also assisted an 80 year old man in getting a portable DVD player for his grandson (as he is from the generation where you don't get aggressive shopping...and if I hadn't gotten aggressive..he wouldn't have gotten it!).

Then it was back home...where I was greeted to a toilet tank that didn't shut off and where water was streaming across the bathroom floor (luckily on the ground level...luckily we caught it at the 1/4-1/2" mark....over about a 20' x 10' area!). Guess what?! We didn't own a wet/dry vac...but I do own a smallish carpet shampooer...whose tank holds about 1/2 gallon of water at a shot....so...50 minutes and about 45 water dumps later....the water was, for the most part, up off the floor (I say for the most part....it was down to "mopped" wetness level when I quit!).

Of course..since it was Mr. Oz's birthday...that brought to mind a great present for his mother to give him! An early bird special at Lowes....a 10 Gallon, 4 hp Shop Vac...which now resides in our garage..ensuring that there will be no more water incidents!

After a two hour nap to catch up on some of my missed Zzzzzzzz's, it was back into the shopping world for the entire family..where I just about finished up the Xmas shopping for ME from the Hubby and Kids (whoo hoo....merry xmas to me....it is all just what I wanted!!!)...and did manage to get the kiddos some fun things.

Mr. Oz spent a quiet birthday..outside of the water issue..the watching of the King while Mom took care of the water issue and her nap.....and the shopping (Hey...he went to Lowes, and we went to Circuit City and Best Buy..what more could a guy want for his birthday right?!)

Ahh.....a long weekend.....what fun!
