The Changing of the Guard - A bit of a Mandela Effect

Today is inauguration day.  The changing of the guard in the US.  Over on the Book of Face, a friend of mine wrote something powerful that is a reminder to us all that our momentary perception can belie actual events.

"The inauguration of the 46th POTUS doesn't look like the same as any previous.  The Constitutional Republic of the United States of America has ALWAYS had a civil transfer of power...until it didn't 4 years ago.  And I fear that this shall be one of the most unique & significant American foundations that will not be witnessed for a very long time, if ever again".

The transfer of power from 45 to 46 was peaceful today from an administrative perspective. But from a citizenry perspective, there are 74 million Americans out there who point to the stark contrast of four years ago (burning cars and buildings, hundreds of arrests,40+ police injured, thousands of protestors from over 60 different factions, burning flags, and the like) and today (barricades, fences, few to no protestors, no attendees, and a media-based frenzy of "thanks to the Police and the like, the protests have been kept to a minimum, but as a reminder the 45th President isn't here and remember what happened on January 6th 2020").

All political proclivities aside, it is fascinating from a sociological perspective how perception and reality can be very different.  A true Mandela Effect.

That all said - I send warm wishes to and pray for President Biden and VP Harris as they begin their four-year journey. Stay the course, upend the ship, or change direction - no matter their path forward - they have a large challenge in front of them to be sure.  I, as an American, support them in this journey.
