Cincinnati and all that Jazz.....

Whew....now only one more weekend of hockey. Took off for Cincinnati Friday afternoon and arrived in time for Hunter's 6:40 game (barely). Dean and Luke were glad to see me get there! In spite of a cheering section that included Beth and Steve, our boys lost on Friday night. Enjoyed a nice evening with the Leverings, before turning in at the hotel with the rest of the team.

Saturday dawned, and off we went for the Second game of the tourney. Again, the cheering section included Beth and Steve, and this time, we were a bit more successful. Although Hunt didn't score, the team won (with 8 seconds left!) with a score of 3-2. T'was very exciting, what with Dean calling infractions to the Referee on the ice (and the Ref literally laughing as he was calling them and looking at Dean as if to say "I got it, I got it....just watch the game big guy!").

Went on to spend a wonderful afternoon with Beth and Steve, as well as with Lukey-bones (hunter stayed with some teammates at the hotel). Evening brought family time as Rick, Joan and Amy came over to visit at the hotel. Fun was had by all (or at least I can vouch for us!)

This morning dawned to yet another hockey team, yet another Fort Wayne team to boot (we had beaten one the day before). Alas....our winning streak was not to be...we lost something like 4-1 The team was down 2 defensemen, and had a defensman who couldn't seem to stay out of the penalty box for the game...so Hunter played forward (wing) AND defense--splitting the game about half-and-half. I wasn't really paying attention near the end as Lukey needed breakfast and wasn't feeling all that great (he had been up for about 1.5 hours overnight crying like a madbaby.....and was sick at breakfast..too much time away from home!) Got home at around 12:30....settled in for a long nap (okay..about 45 minutes...had to catch up on the beauty sleep!).

Given lukey's illness...we had a slight change of plans for this evening. Dean, Hunter and I were to attend Southeast Christian Church's Easter pageant (www.southeastchristian.org). Some of the family (Rick, Joan, Beth, Steve) are familiar with SE Christian's ministries and have heard of this pageants; but in essence (for the Catholic folks) it is like a passion play. Hunter and I attended, Dean stayed home. Here is my review...Stunning, awe inspiring, incredible, deeply moving, beyond the pale....deeply moving (oh did I say that?!)...

I have to tell you that when Simon of Cyrene sang to the crowd about bringing a lamb to the city to slaughter for Passover......and then losing his children in the crowd, then seeing Jesus and helping carry the cross...then showing his children the true Lamb that was led to slaughter (Jesus) I was sobbing....truly sobbing...the gent who played him just totally enraptured me with his melodic voice telling the story.....I felt like standing up and saying "I GET IT..JUST STOP SINGING".....because I knew that with every word and note, the point was just more deeply driven home. Seriously..this play is amazing.

Well...as you can tell....I have had an extremely long weekend....and the week starts in just 7 short hours...therefore....G'night all.....sweet dreams.
