Cool Cars and Caves

I will spare you the weather report from the mid-south.....okay..no I won't. I saw on the news last night that today was to be a beeeee-you-tiful day....and thought "We can't waste Hunt's last spring break day on such mundane things as laundry, yardwork and grocery shopping." A quick hop on the web and I knew just what to do! A confirmation with Dean, and a quick "Hey Hunter..do you want to..." and the plans were set.

This morning at 9:15 a.m., the residents of Oz headed out to visit a 12 year old boy's dream... the National Corvette Museum in Bowling Green, Kentucky. Wow! What a great place for a boy with car dreams! Hunter was quickly running from place to place..pointing out his favorite cars (69 stingray ranks #1 with him!). Paint jobs, engine sizes, hood scoops...my head was spinning in a dizzying array of male car terms. I will tell you though..that in the truest Faison tradition..I read all of the signs, etc., and learned a lot about the Corvette!

After completing this testosterone festival..I mentioned that we were quite near a natural wonder known as Lost River Cave. Some of the older generations might have heard tell of a nightclub built at the entrance to a cave (and partially in the cave) in Kentucky. It was a hit spot for Big Bands like Tommy Dorsey and his crew, etc., as it was acoustically and visually cool. We were about 10 miles away from it and I suggested that since the day was so pretty..we ought to head over! All acquiesced....and off we went.

If you are ever in Southern Kentucky near the TN border..ya ought to check this place out! There is a boat tour inside the cave...great walking trails outside of the cave and some neat Blue Holes (see the pics and explanations below!)! Really pretty country..the Cave is kinda neat (although if you are a cave afficionado..you would say "yea...nothing big there!"...and the nightclub was cool (both in temperature and idea!). You could almost hear the strains of music gone by!

Hunter and I thoroughly enjoyed the trip into the cave in the boat. Dean and Luke had planned to go with us...but with Dean's dislike for tight spaces...and the need for you to "duck" (literally) as the tour set out.......Dean boarded the boat...then shortly thereafter unboarded with Luke in tow.....(think Rick F. and heights!). About 45 seconds later..Hunter thought about hopping off when the boat rocked side to side...but I said "dude...sit down...we are about to take off!". Off we went..and Hunter was glad he did!

Whew.....exhaustion is setting in now...Luke is catching his second wind...and I am ready for bed. With that...I will leave you with the pics in memory of our day! Enjoy! (And if you head this way...let's go caving! Mammoth..Diamond...Carter...Lost River.....we have TONS of 'em....all within a couple hours of here!)
