So......what else (besides weather)...

So you might ask what else (beside the gorgeous weather!!!!!) has been going on in the Land of Oz. Well...you have already heard about the state mandated testing that the older Oz is going through...and other than that he has been enjoying down time from Hockey (he decided not to play spring league) for a little while.....so what else has been going on?

The 12 year old Oz Resident - He has been busy challenging other folks in his orchestra class to move up in the "Chairs" world. He went from 11th chair to 6th to 4th in a matter of days...then back to sixth before one more challenge. He is now sitting at 5th and eyeing 3rd. It is funny, because now he is actually considering practicing. The way he figures it.....he will challenge for 1st Chair (Concert Master) shortly before the end of the school year (like within the last two weeks), as once you challenge someone, if you beat them, they can't challenge you for two weeks...and that means he would start out the year next year as concert master. Hmm.....this doesn't sound like a FAISON trait does it?! (Figure out how to set the system up to win for you!). The challenges are done by sight reading and he is really strong in that area......Why wouldn't he challenge now? Too much time to lose the chair! (School ends in 5 weeks or so!) At home, he has been spending a ton of time hanging with friends outside....and playing with his Airsoft Guns shooting into our side yard at targets.

The 11 month old (gulp!) Oz resident is fully over his tummy bug as evidenced by the sheer amount of food he took in yesterday...35 oz of formula (he normally does about 16 now that he is eating regular food!), a jar of fruit, a large portion of mixed cereal, pbj sandwich and soup for lunch, chicken pot pie and veggies for dinner, about 8 saltines, 1 biter biscuit, some other random snackies (including some floor snacks...hey...he's a crawler!!)....it blew us away. Of course, Lukey is definitely our eater.....if there is food...he is all over it! He is also busy learning this walking thing..stringing up to 8-10 steps together to get to where he wants. Of course...if there is something he wants right now then he crawls off..it is much faster don't you know! His vocabulary rep includes Mama (and Mum), Bru-Bah (for Hunter...in fact...if you say "Say Hunter" he will look at you and say "bruh-bruh" or brub-bah, and Hi (which cracks us up...as he has several inflected Hi's...hiyeee......a soft hi...etc) He also waves Hi and Bye. No "dada" yet..although everytime you try to get him to say it he does say "baba" which Dean and I tend to think may be dada....as Dean greets him in the morning with "Lukey, do you want a baba". He plays so-big, claps his hands for "If you're happy and you know it" and plays patty cake. He also has an extremly strong will....(Mr Oz's side...definitely!!!! Tee hee!) and truly believes in the toddler creed "If I see it, don't see it, have never even heard of it....IT IS MINE...HAND IT OVER!!".

Mr. and Mrs. Oz have been doing great as well! Busily planning our 16 gardens around the house (tis far cheaper to plan than to do right?!! LOL!), and playing with the kiddos... Work is going well for both....keeping busy and having fun! Other than that, the house is a mess, the kids are happy, and the yard is starting to look really nice (like a Mr. Downs type yard!). Mr. Oz has been eyeing the pool to get it ready for the summer (tis a pretty shade of green right now!!)...and Mrs. Oz has been eyeing paint at the Home Improvement store to paint a few more rooms (like Bathrooms, etc.!). Hey wait..when did Mr. and Mrs. Oz become adults who worry about that type of stuff?! Tee hee!

We are heading into the busy season here in the mid south. The biggest festival in our region is about to start (this weekend!) and then we are on our way to the biggest 2 week party this town ever hosts! We aren't heading downtown this year to watch the kick off of the festivities....too much work with the baby....but we do have tickets for the races in May (the Girls races that is......)

That is about it as far as what is happening in Oz land.....email us and tell us what is happening in your world!
