The Workin Man....
The Prince has wrangled his way to his very first summer job. He is a stable hand at a local Stable - in fact, one that he used to ride at during summer camp!
Muckin stalls, mowin grass, leadin horses to and from pasture, throwing hay, grading arena floors, gettin dirty. Oh, and many of the young ladies that board and show there are not bad on the eyes too! What more could a young guy want for a summer job!
He will be working about 20 hours per week - has already put in 15 hours - and is very excited about the work he is doing! He has always been a kinesthetic kind of guy, and this type of work plays right into that.
You can check out the stables on line - its a pretty drive over there (about 15 minutes away) - Now I know how MY mom felt having to hang around the house waiting to pick me or my big sis C up at McD's. (Luckily, we have cell phones now a days - and soon the Prince will be taking driver's training and the like and will be able to drive himself - given his status as a 16 year old at the end of the month!)
Way to Go Prince on a great first job - one that teaches the value of hard work for an honest day's pay!
as an aside, the King is VERY excited about his working big brother. Perhaps that is because the four year old is ENAMORED with horseys, and is dying to get on one. Maybe later in the season, when the Prince learns the temperament of each of the stable vs. boarded horses he might oblige his little bro...but until then- the King is dreamin!

And I never worked at McD's -- they wouldn't hire me even when D's old friend S.L. called up the CHS McDs' from the McD's he managed over on the east side (Navarre?) and told 'em about our family history at McD's. Even that didn't get me a phone call or an interview.... Times were tough when I was looking for a job as a teen in '81 and '82, so I did babysitting and umpiring only.
But Mom certainly spent lots of time waiting for me at piano lessons and umpiring....
