Spelling Test!

It's time for a spelling test. Can you spell......

Iontophoresis

How about

Phonophoresis

Now....use them in a sentence.

You can't? I can. The cadet's knee began swelling rapidly during physical therapy yesterday, so they used iontophoresis and phonophoresis and called an all-halt in the exercising process.

Yup, he still isn't healed properly. In part because the injury is a tricky one to heal (who knew?!). It seems you are always using your knee in life...and to rest it is difficult! The other "part" of the healing process assumes that the one trying to heal isn't a 14 year old young man whose Mother isn't there to remind him that running, jumping, playing basketball, leaping off stairs 3 steps from the bottom, etc aren't part of the physical rehab of a knee injury. Hmmm...again...who knew?!

So his M&A orders (Marching and activity) read NO Marching, NO Running, NO Jumping, NO Baseball, NO Activity. His Therapist and physician have threatened the immobilizer again if he doesn't get it together..and his Mother has reminded him that his knee needs to last about 75-80 more years so he needs to take it easy with it.

They have defined a couple of random injury related issues that he is dealing with: possibly Osgood-Schlatters disease (growing pains anyone?!), osteochondritis, and patellar tendonitis. (See..my medical terminology class at Seton Hill does me good!). If they can't get the osteochondritis and patellar tendonitis under control...he still may be looking at surgery. Sigh. The good news is....he will be home in a week and a half for spring break, and at that time..he will be again assessed by his family physician. Then we will have a better idea.

Until that time....work on your spelling people...the cadet will be doing the same (as he is out of baseball..for now..and possibly for the season)

So sorry about the Cadet. If it is Osgood-Schlotters (HA don't expect me to spell it) look into a Cho-Pat knee brace. Sh has one and it does wonders for her. Wears it on and off especially during "growing seasons." Got it on line as recommended by the pediatrician. It has two pressure points, not one like many of the "bands."

Never thought we'd actually want the boys to be couch potatos, did we??!! We just can't win....
